Our history
Sleep in a Historical Residence
Montorio, is the name originally derived from the Latin “Mons Aurum”, golden mount, and which we have decided to maintain. In 1996 my family acquired it and it is thanks to my father, that this beautiful farmhouse was discovered, even though in a state of abandonment, we fell in love with its position, unique on the summit of a hill with a 360° view and with the Tempio of San Biagio in front of it.A year later, after acquiring the permission to restructure it, we started the development work, that lasted more than three years.
They were demanding years, in which we had many difficulties and obstacles, but bit by bit the work progressed and we could see that this ancient farmhouse was starting to take shape, returning to life, which gave us the force and enthusiasm to continue with our strongest energy.
We have restructured it, maintaining the original design unaltered and we have looked after it as if it was our own house. A house that today we have the pleasure and honour to share with you. In 2000 we opened to the public, not having experience in the hospitality sector, but with a passion, a pinch of recklessness and lots of enthusiasm I started to make my first steps. In these years I have gained a little more experience, but above all I have come to know many wonderful people who have enriched me personally and many of them have become dear friends.
I will be delighted to welcome you in our/your house, and give you some suggestions about the many things that our territory can offer, which is rich in history, art and beauty and not the least food and good wine.
